Christine Tamez, MA, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Christine has been assisting folks who would like to change their lives for the better for many years. She loves the human capacity to learn, practice, change, and grow throughout the lifespan and truly enjoys helping people figure out the best way to improve their lives and relationships. If you need a safe place to process, explore, and move through grief, the effects of trauma, relational difficulties, family of origin dynamics, and/or patterns that are causing more harm than good, Christine is willing and able to hold your story, help you discern what can shift, and guide you in practices that can make things better.
Christine enjoys working with:
- children, ages 6 and up, on a case-by-case basis
- teens
- adults of all ages
- individuals
- couples (dating, engaged, married)
- family groups
Specialized training / focused experience:
- working with individuals and families living with autism; assistance in dealing with the challenges autism can present while also celebrating the unique beauty of the autistic perspective
- trauma
- grief and loss (due to death, loss of relationship, major life change, etc.)
- Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) to treat trauma and “stuck” patterns
- intercultural/interethnic couple/family relationships
- integrating faith into therapy -and/or- exploring impact of religious practices and beliefs on current patterns and relationships
Christine is comfortable supporting you in integrating your faith practices into your therapeutic journey and is equally comfortable supporting those who do not engage in specific faith practices.
Christine received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Bethel University in St. Paul (1997), and worked as an educator for many years prior to pursuing her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota Graduate School in Minneapolis (2014).
