Friday Forums for Pastors & Christian Leaders

We are excited to offer a series of training and interaction sessions for Pastors and Christian Leaders. These are held from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. the second Friday of every other month (starting in January) at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton (a link to a map is at the bottom of this page).  At each session a therapist will present a topic of interest followed by a Q & A session on the topic, with a panel of therapists interacting with participants on the presented topic.

During the remaining time the panel will be available to interact with any questions the participants have on any counseling topic. The sessions are free of charge.  It is our desire to create a greater accessibility for those in ministry to professional input on issues faced when interacting or counseling within their organization. We anticipate addressing a range of topics that could either be directly aimed at counseling issues or more broadly focused on general interpersonal or leadership issues.

       RELATIONAL SPIRITUALITY AND TRANSFORMATION

In November, Steve Sandage, Ph.D, LP, will be exploring a relational model of spiritual growth and maturity first described in the book Transforming Spirituality by Shults and Sandage (Baker Academic, 2006).   He will be exploring a process of spiritual transformation that results from embracing the anxiety that occurs in the crucible of relationships.   This model suggests relational implications and strategies for leaders, therapists and other helping professionals who seek to facilitate healthy spiritual development in those with whom they work.   Steve will be drawing on his experience as a therapist, researcher and professor in the Marriage and Family program at Bethel Seminary.
